Tatertot Hotdish

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef (93%)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 small yellow onion, small dice
  • 2-4 oz mushrooms, small dice
  • 1 package frozen tater tots
  • 1 cup frozen corn
  • 2 cans cream of mushroom soup
    • or 2-3 cups béchamel/white sauce or thickened heavy cream sauce
  • worcestershire sauce
  • kosher salt & pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375
  2. Sauté onions and mushrooms with butter until they just start to brown
  3. Add seasonings and meat, break meat apart after it starts to brown and cook until no longer pink
  4. Put meat in the bottom of a 9x13 pan/pyrex dish
  5. Mix in the corn, soup cans/white sauce with the beef
  6. Place a single layer of tater tots over the mixture, making sure to try to cover all areas
  7. Sprinkle salt and pepper over the tater tots
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the tater tots are almost done (somewhat crispy)
  9. Turn the oven off, turn the broiler on high, and broil for 2-4 minutes, or until the tater tots are extra crispy
