Scalloped Potatoes and Ham


Ingredients

  • 3 lbs potatoes (yukon gold or russet), sliced ⅛ inch on mandolin, skin optional
  • ¼ lb ham (cubed or thin slices)
  • 6 tbsp butter
  • ½ cup all purpose flour
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375
  2. Melt butter, add flour, whisk, cook for a few minutes until it smells nutty
  3. Add milk, whisk, and heat until the sauce starts to thicken. Don’t let it get to a boil
  4. Spray the bottom of a 9x13 pan with cooking spray
  5. Start by adding a layer of potatoes, sprinkling ham, a light dusting of salt and pepper, and some of the sauce
  6. Keep doing this until all the ingredients are used up
  7. Bake in the oven for 45 to 60 minutes, or until the potatoes are cooked. Poke with a butter knife to check the texture.

Notes

You can also add cheese to this, just layer it in as you like.
