Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium yellow onion, small dice
- 1 lb bacon
- 64oz canned baked beans
- 14oz can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 14oz can red beans, drained and rinsed
- 14oz can lima beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 tsp liquid smoke
- 1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 3 tbsp apple cider vinegar
Optional Ingredients
- 2 tbsp hot sauce
Directions
- Slowly render the bacon until crispy in a sauté pan. Put aside, blot dry and chop into small bits
- Save about a tablespoon of the rendered bacon fat, and sauté the onions and ground meat until the meat is cooked through
- Put all the ingredients in a crock pot and mix well
- Cook on low heat for 6-8 hours, stirring occasionally
Notes
Not everyone likes kidney or lima beans, so those can be swapped with great northern, navy or black beans instead.
